|Vinyl Fence FAQ's
Is there a local dealer/rep in Pittsburgh?
We are a factory-direct distributor. Most of our customers purchase our products with the intent of making it a do-it-yourself project. The easy-to-install aspect of vinyl fence makes it easy for homeowners to finish their own projects. We make available installation manuals, how-to tips and toll-free phone and email support.
We don't keep a database of installers or retailers. If you would like to hire a contractor to install your fence, we suggest contacting the American Fencing Association. They will refer you to a reputable installer.
Who is Hoover Fence Co. and where are you located?
We are a family owned business with over 30 years of fence installation experience. We were "closet computer nerds" who loved to work outside. So we found a way to combine our love for the outdoors with our geeky computer hobby. We are located on a 10 acre farm in Newton Falls, Ohio.
How long does it take to ship the vinyl fence?
This can vary as the peak fence season approaches. Shipping times can vary from 1 week in the late fall through early spring but during the peak months of May-August lead times can be as much as 3 to 4 weeks. So it pays to plan your fence project to avoid the long waits of the summer months. Our suggestion: Buy the fence in April and install the pool in May. That way you'll have the fence ready to go when your family is itching to get wet in their new pool!
How much does the shipping cost?
The fence is shipped from several locations across the country: New York, Florida, California and others. All orders over $1500 include FREE shipping and most orders under a $1000 run about $75 for freight.
How difficult is it to install?
Most of our customers are very pleased with the ease of installation. The most common comment? Digging the holes is the hardest part of the job! Read some of our customer's comments here.
Is Hoover Fence Co. the Manufacturer?
We do not manufacture vinyl fences or products. We do supply vinyl fences nationwide to consumers and contractors. All standards below, but not limited to what is below, must be met by manufacturers before we deal with their products.
Vinyl fences we supply are manufactured like vinyl siding, which has a long track record of providing durability and longevity. However, the base ingredient PVC (polyvinyl chloride), is altered to provide for increased superior impact resistance and ultra violet protection. With our fences and proper installation, one can be assured of a fence that will remain aesthetically appealing and structurally sound.
Vinyl fences we supply are warranted against manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the product. See warranty document for additional more specific warranties.
Vinyl fences we supply have an exterior layer for ultra violet protection and an interior built for impact resistance. They are co-extruded and will not separate.
Vinyl fences we supply do not use the waste stream as a source. Some other vinyl fences do and it reduces the quality of the products. Our vinyl fences are recyclable and are used when the plastic meets rigid specifications.
Cold Weather Damage?
Naturally plastic becomes less flexible in cold temperatures. Vinyl fences we supply are designed to withstand normal climatic changes. Under normal conditions and without unusual impact, these fences will not snap or break. Proper installation of concrete footers will prevent post heaving.
Vinyl fences we supply are manufactured with titanium dioxide, which decreases the likelihood of ultra violet damage.
All the vinyl fences we supply are available in white. Some are available in tan, grey, and woodgrain desert tan. Because titanium dioxide, a color loss and change inhibitor, is white in pigment, it is difficult to provide darker colors. Naturally, darker colors attract sun rays and heat, increasing the likelihood of warping, sagging, and other sun damage. See more about colors here.
Vinyl fences we supply are classified as "self-extinguishing" and will not readily ignite.
Because there are no protruding sharp screws, nails, and splinters, injury is unlikely. The no-taste factor of PVC decreases the likelihood of horse chewing. However, interior post caps are recommended for use with horses.
In general, the initial cost of vinyl fencing is higher than other fence styles. However, when compared on the long run, vinyl fencing remains maintenance-free while other fence styles increase in maintenance and and repair costs.
